Independence, MO – William Chrisman High School is thrilled to announce the hiring of Tearle “Terry” McCray as the new Head Football Coach for the William Chrisman Football Program.
McCray brings 14 years of coaching experience, including six years as a head coach and, most recently, seven years as a defensive line coach at Chrisman. Throughout his career, Coach McCray has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to excellence – making him an ideal fit to lead the football program into a new era of success.
In addition to his expertise in football, Coach McCray is a highly experienced multi-sport coach, with 11 years of basketball coaching and 14 years of track coaching under his belt. This diverse coaching background highlights his commitment to developing well-rounded athletes and instilling valuable life skills in his players.
Coach McCray’s rigorous training program focuses on teamwork, discipline, and strategic game planning, which has helped to consistently develop competitive teams and strong, character-driven athletes. His disciplined, tough, and up-tempo approach to football has left a lasting impact on the students he has coached and the communities he has served.
Off the field, Coach McCray values family deeply. He is a devoted husband to his wife, Shantai, and a proud father to Darius (Angel), Tyree, and Myles. His leadership and passion extend beyond his coaching career, and he strives to be a positive role model for all student-athletes.
